Kids' open studio
Instructor: Lori Caterini
Great opportunities for individual expression using
traditional and non-traditional techniques in a
"smorgasboard" arts environment.
Our instructor will guide students as they peruse a
wide range of processes and techniques using an
array of materials including found objects to create
collage, assemblage, mixed media sculpture,
drawings and paintings.
The emphasis of Open Studio is on fun, creativity, and
learning the techniques you need. You will also get
relevant (and painless!) doses of art history and
contemporary art that relate to your projects.
Intensive drawing instruction will be available to interested
students. Self motivated projects are supplemented by
projects chosen by the instructor and geared to
student interests.

Kids Report on Open Studio:
"I think the art class is great, because we have so
many different materials, which means endless
possibilities..."

Parents' Testimonials:
"The Open Studio is a place where kids learn how to
open their eyes and stretch their minds to create
amazing things! The studio is supportive,
encouraging, inspirational, and always fun - kids aren't
afraid to get their hands dirty, and they get totally
immersed in their work and lose track of time. The
perfect cure for having to sit in a seat and follow the
rules all day."

"The art studio allows my 12 year old to indulge her
"younger" urges to do anything that involves a hot-glue
gun and sequins while at the same time supports her
"maturing" creative-self by offering a context for
exploration and expression. One day she is painting a
gigantic mural and another day she is on a field trip to
an orthotics factory creating a cast form of her fist!
C-4 is a special place- it is hard to find something
"cool enough" for an adolescent that a parent
supports 100%!"
