(modified 1/28/10) Next Step on Guitar: Build Your Repertoire
A class for advanced beginners
Wednesday evenings, 7:30 to 8:15 pm February 10 through March 24 (six sessions; no class March 3) Taught by Rob Krumm.
This class is designed to follow the Guitar From Scratch class. If you have taken Guitar From Scratch or if you have basic guitar skills listed below, then this class will be perfect for you. If you have no experience playing guitar, then you should check out our Guitar From Scratch class!
The skills you should have for this class are basic right-hand and left-hand techniques, the open chords such as G, C, D, Am, Em, F, A, E, B7, D7 and the ability to change chords in tempo.
This is a group class with an emphasis on sharpening many techniques within the context of playing specific songs, and developing a repertoire of tunes. We’ll work on developing better rhythm guitar techniques including alternating bass notes, bass runs, and movable chord shapes.
We will also cover basic finger-picking during this class and work on at least one song using finger-picking techniques.
Students will recommend some of the songs that we’ll be playing. This is a great chance to work on those songs that you’ve always wanted to play, so dig out those song books and bring some tunes to class!
Because the song selection will vary with each class, this repertoire-building class can be repeated several times.
You should come away from this class with a much better understanding of many rhythm guitar techniques and how to apply these techniques to play some of your favorite songs.
The fee for this class is $90. If you are interested in taking this class or have questions about the class, please contact our instructor, Rob Krumm, via email rob@c-4a.org or phone at 217-840-4901.
