A grown-up counterpart to our popular Bow-Dacious String Band, this group is for adults who want to
have fun playing together in a friendly atmosphere.
We will be drawing our repertoire from a large pool that includes old-time, jazz, blues, polkas, and things
much further afield. The focus will be on playing, learning, and having fun: adult entertainment in the best
sense! (The group is not limited to string instruments... bring your clarinet, accordion, trombone, flute...)
Led by C4A music faculty member Tom Faux,
The Cretaceous Band meets on Sundays from
4:30 to 6:00 PM at the Community Center for the Arts.
We'll be in room # 226, on the 2nd floor of the old post
office building at the intersection of Elm and
Broadway in downtown Urbana, just north of
Lincoln Square.
Next semester starts May 16, 2010 (8 week session).
Cost: $75.00 (scholarships available)
This group is for beginning to intermediate level players.
You don't have to be an expert, but you should already be
able to play your instrument at least a little. You don't have
to read music but we'll have charts available for most tunes.
Please email Tom or call 384-2946 for more information.
