at the intersection of Broadway and Elm in the old post office building in downtown
Urbana. We're there teaching most days during after school and early evening hours.  Other time by luck. To find our music studios,
go through the main doors to the lobby, then look to your left for a stairway up to our studios on the second floor.  Our art studio is on
the basement level in room 24, adjacent to the Bike Project.

Mission

Our mission is to help make the arts accessible to everyone, and
to serve people who invest themselves in the arts as students,
performers, artisans, and appreciators.

We encourage individuals to strive for excellence in an
atmosphere that fosters a team spirit, and hope to foster
awareness, understanding, and acceptance of diverse cultures—
including those in our community—through the exploration of
multicultural music, dance, and visual arts.

We encourage collaboration between artists in different
disciplines to build community and work to remove barriers that
keep people away from art.
Who are we?

Our faculty is made up of some of the finest
teachers, performers, and artists in our
community.  We believe in working as a
team, and feel that our students benefit
from this approach.
Beginnings
The Community Center for the Arts (C4A) was established in the fall of 2006.  We started with 3 teachers and about 30
students. At that point we gave private lessons and ran the Bow-Dacious String Band.

Since then we've grown to over 200 students with 12 teachers who offer a variety of individual and group music opportunities
for kids and adults.  We also have a growing visual arts program, with classes for kids and adults
.

Current Status
In the summer of 2009 we were granted tax-exempt status by the IRS.

In September 2009 we moved to our current location at 202 South Broadway in downtown Urbana, Illinois.  Our music studios
occupy most of the second floor; our art studio is on the basement level. We share a historic building with a branch of the US
postal service, the UC-IMC, and a host of other community groups.
