Photos from Summer 2008 Art Camp Here are examples of three different kinds of mask construction techniques. Plaster foundation: finished with fanciful flair! Assemblages: putting various object together to create something new. Paper Mache cross-disciplinary program team-taught by professionals and designed to provide kids with plenty of opportunity for self-expression,while also teaching a set of specific technical skills. Sometimes we combined music with art and constructed instruments to play. Here is one called an "udderbot" by its inventor, CU resident Jacob Barton. to ensure adequate attention for each camper. Activities took place at our Lincoln Square location with several off-site field trips. What fun! Our instructors: Lori Caterini is a Champaign-Urbana sculptor, installation artist, and art educator. She holds an MA in Art Education from the University of Illinois, has taught classes in the community for both adults and children, and is a year-round member of the C4A art faculty. Lori exhibits regularly at the Boneyard Arts Festival, and various galleries, including the Krannert Art Museum. Tom Faux, a well-known Urbana musician, is on the year-round music faculty at C4A, teaches at Illinois State University, and is a Ph.D. candidate in ethnomusicology at the University of Illinois.
